Here at Glencoe High School we feel that in season and off season weight programs are essential for not only our players’ and program’s success, but for the safety of each individual that participates. In this day and age weight lifting and training has become an integral part in all sports.
Football without a doubt requires as much or more weight training than any other sport. We expect our football players to not only workout, but to put forth an effort each time they step into the weight room that will in turn maximize their natural talents and contribute to the overall success of our teams.
In the “Bill Stevens” weight room at Glencoe High School we have now established a Football only record board. On this board we have records posted by positions rather than by weight classes. Each player is tested in six areas:
| Bench Press | ![]() |
| Squat | |
| Power Clean | |
| 40 yard dash | |
| Vertical Jump | |
| Shuttle Run | |
We have also incorporated a new lifting incentive called the Crimson Tide Iron Club. To become a member of the Iron Club you must take the combined total of your maximum bench press, squat, and power clean. That total must be higher than the standard set for your weight class. |

The standards set are as follows: |
